New Director for Friends of the Earth Europe
Friends of the Earth Europe is happy to
announce the appointment of its new director, Magda Stoczkiewicz.
Working from its office in Brussels, Magda
will lead the European arm of the Friends of the Earth International network,
uniting 31 national organisations and representing their grassroots members at
European Union level. She will represent Friends of the Earth Europe on
internationally important issues including climate change, energy and
globalisation.
Magda is Polish and has more than 13 years
experience of non-government organisations and EU policy making. She is
currently policy coordinator of CEE Bankwatch Network, a non-profit
organisation working to prevent the harmful impacts of international development
finance in Central and Eastern Europe. Previously she has held positions with
FoE International in Amsterdam, CEE Bankwatch Network in Brussels and Krakow,
and the Polish FoE group in Krakow.
Magda will take up her position as director in
March 2008. She replaces Fouad Hamdan who left in July. Until then the
organisation will continue to be led by its interim management team headed by
Paul de Clerck.
